Sustainable Manufacturing, Powered by the Sun

Sustainable Manufacturing, Powered by the Sun

At Misco Joinery, sustainability isn’t a buzzword, it’s a commitment. We’re proud to share a major milestone in our ongoing journey toward more responsible manufacturing: our factory roof now hosts 848 solar panels, helping us generate more clean energy than we consume for much of the year.

Our latest solar upgrade is a big step forward for us. It includes:

  • 535 existing panels cleaned and expertly relaid

  • 313 new panels added

  • A total generation capacity of 294.81kW, with 235kW of inverter capacity

So far this year alone, our solar system has produced:

  • 341,738 kWh of clean, renewable energy

  • Offset 39,881 kg of CO₂ emissions

To put that in perspective, our annual savings are equivalent to:

  • Planting 1,900 trees and letting them grow for a year

  • Driving a petrol car 207,000 km (about five times around Earth’s circumference)

  • Taking 159 one-way flights from Auckland to Sydney

  • Avoiding the use of 17,340 litres of petrol

  • Skipping the emissions of 25,000 hot showers

Even with our recently upgraded machinery and factory operations, this expansion means we’re now producing more electricity than we use for much of the year.

SolarPanelsWe’re also incredibly proud to be the only joinery company in New Zealand to hold Toitū Gold Sustainability Accreditation, a recognition of our ongoing commitment to reducing our impact and leading the way in responsible manufacturing.

None of this would be possible without the expertise and support of Sunergy Solar NZ, who helped us achieve this milestone.

At Misco, sustainability is about making thoughtful choices at every level of our work, from the way we design and manufacture your joinery to the way we power our factory.

Thank you for supporting local, sustainable manufacturing.
