Misco Joinery History

Misco Joinery History

Misco Joinery evolved from a vision that Director, Michael Chernishoff, had begun to plan whilst on the first day of his apprenticeship. The dream turned into a reality when Misco Joinery was founded in 1988. Michael’s brother-in-law, Glenn Colenso, joined him in 1998 to learn the ropes and eventually become his business partner.

The production of kitchens started out of farm buildings at the back of the family home where it continued to grow until 2017. In this time Misco had expanded into a company of 35 people and the space at home was becoming too small. Misco had the foresight to see that this operation couldn’t run from the farm buildings forever and a block of land was purchased on Williams St, Kaiapoi in 2005. Building of the new 3,500sqm purpose-built factory and showroom commenced in 2015.

Each day is filled with challenges, but the directors have loved watching Misco Joinery grow into a thriving company that still maintains its core beliefs of family business, determination, and teamwork.

Today, Misco is a team of over 70 and is continuously growing. We are proud to have expanded our services into the commercial field as well as around New Zealand. Misco now has a strong team from Designers through to Installers, offering the complete package for large and small builders, commercial builders, and private new builds. Our state-of-the-art showroom offers a variety of kitchens, laundries, and wardrobes for clients to visit and gain more design ideas and inspiration.

Misco Joinery’s story is still very much a To Be Continued...
